World Suicide Prevention Day

September 16, 2021

September 10 was World Suicide Prevention Day. WSPD is held on the 10th of September each year to highlight the devastating effects of suicide, and the need to work together to support people affected by suicide.

Our Kōrari Māori Public Health team, who deliver Kia Piki Te Ora (all-age suicide prevention) in Murihiku, are focused on bringing whānau together and supporting community through initiatives that are mana enhancing. Our team says being together, supporting one another and showing that you care are important ways of protecting whānau from whakamomori (suicide).

We are proud to support our communities through events and initiatives and we’re asking you, the community, to rise up and speak out! Shout out when you’re not feeling great. Get in touch with us if you have any ideas in this space. How can we help whanau to be stronger together?

Give us a call on 0800 925 242 or pop in and see us at 92 Spey Street, Invercargill. #strongertogether#whanau#arohakitetangata#hope
