Southern Maori Mental Health and Addiction Service – Practitioner Vacancies

Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioners to work with whanau in the Southern District (offices based in Dunedin and Invercargill).

You will be joining a kaupapa Maori organisation working in the field of mental health and addiction. You will be responsible for providing confidential counselling and tautoko to tangata whaiora who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health and addiction issues. This may include confidential individual, whanau or group therapy engaging Maori modalities of wellbeing, etc.

The desired applicant will have experience working in the field of mental health and addictions in a primary or secondary care setting, effective communication skills, be able to work autonomously and in a team, have a comprehensive knowledge of drug treatment modalities, experience working in a kaupapa Maori setting, highly skilled in documentation, be able to cope under pressure, have great time management skills, and hold a current full driver’s license. A strong local network would also be an advantage.

You must have appropriate qualifications in addictions and/or mental health and be registered with DAPAANZ or similar registration boards (or a pathway to gaining registration).

Mahana Southern Maori Mental Health and Addiction Service is a southern-wide service offering one-on-one counselling, group work, experiential learning, education and information and wananga-based interventions.

  • Alexandra/Wanaka contract for service.
