We recently had the pleasure of hosting visitors from Christchurch following their presentation at the Special Addictions Service.
Raewyn Birkett (Withdrawal Management Nurse / South Island Liaison), alongside Dr Alfred Dell’ario (Clinical Director, South Island Addictions Services), and Shelly Higgins (Nurse Manager, The Kennedy Unit at Hillmorton Hospital) joined NKMP staff - Withdrawal nurses Kasey Hope and Sarah Manning, Tūmanako Oranga Wellness Centre site manager Kerstin Kummerer, and Doctor Janice Sargent, after delivering a session on the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act (SACAT) and regional pathways for community detox.
After their presentation, they visited our Tūmanako Oranga Wellness Centre to check out our detox room and respite space. It was a great opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and showcase the work happening here.
