Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking an experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioner to work with whānau in our Invercargill office.
Mahana Southern Māori Mental Health and Addiction Service is a southern-wide service offering one-on-one counselling, group work, experiential learning, education and information, and wānanga-based interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide confidential support to tangata whaiora with mild to moderate mental health and addiction needs
• Work with individuals, whānau, and groups using Māori-based therapeutic approaches
• Communicate effectively and work well both independently and in a team
• Apply strong knowledge of drug treatment modalities and complete thorough assessments and documentation
• Stay calm under pressure and manage time efficiently
• Hold a current NZ driver’s licence
• Understand Māori and non-Māori networks across Southland
• Demonstrate knowledge of Tikanga Māori, Te Reo, and kaupapa Māori practice
• Hold relevant mental health and/or addiction qualifications
• Be DAPAANZ, NZAC or similar registered or working toward registration
